KORN Recruits Former SEVENDUST Guitarist
February 28, 2007Launch Radio Networks reports: KORN has recruited guitarist Clint Lowery, formerly of SEVENDUST and more recently with DARK NEW DAY, as the band's touring guitarist for 2007. The group had previously enlisted ex-OTEP axeman Rob Patterson for most of its live dates last year, but guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer said it was time to make a change. "There were some things I was just unhappy with, and I wanted to try to get somebody in that I was comfortable sharing the stage with," he said. "I've always been a SEVENDUST fan, and I was thinking it would be great, if Clint Lowery wasn't doing anything, if he'd be interested in touring with KORN. I called him up, I ran it by him, and I'm real excited. There's been a lot of skepticism about this, but once people see this guy play and sing, all the worry will diminish."
Lowery is the second replacement for original KORN guitarist Brian "Head" Welch, who left the band two years ago to devote his life to Christianity.
Lowery will make his debut with KORN tomorrow (Thursday, March 1) when the band makes its first appearance ever on NBC's "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno".
KORN's recently taped "Unplugged" performance will premiere on MTV this Friday (March 2),with a CD arriving on March 6. Guests include members of THE CURE as well as EVANESCENCE singer Amy Lee. The show is now streaming online at MTV's web site.
KORN is currently recording its eighth studio album and plans to release it this summer. Veteran rock drummer Terry Bozzio is filling in for original KORN drummer David Silveria, who is taking a hiatus from the group.
